Wildewood is located 75 miles east of Sioux Lookout in northwest Ontario, Canada. Wildewood on Lake Savant is a relaxing getaway, a place to enjoy solitude, and an opportunity to make long lasting memories. Hunting and fishing enthusiasts, families and couples enjoy the comfort and service of our wilderness adventure. Our six log cabins and a main lodge are nestled in the pine trees and wildlife of this extraordinary place. Your Hosts: Matt & Kim Neufeld
In January 2008, Kim and Matt Neufeld purchased Wildewood from it’s previous owner Richard Kungle. The Neufelds are committed to the legacy of bringing guests back year after year, and will promote the tradition of distinction which Wildewood on Lake Savant has boasted for years.
Business savvy and a sincere passion for the outdoors are the strengths that Matt and Kim bring to this venture.
Kim grew up in Northern Michigan and is no stranger to True North. She has recently owned and operated a small business and is an avid photographer. Matt was raised in Northern Wisconsin with a special enthusiasm for hunting, fishing, and the outdoor life. Matt has been taking trips to Canada since the age of 10, and has traveled many times to the western United States for hunting adventures. Matt has built log homes and owned and operated a successful retail business for nine years prior to buying the resort. For many years the Neufelds have enjoyed a family cabin in Canada.
Matt and Kim welcomed their first child, Logan, in April 2008. Logan joined the family dogs Mookie, a Jack Russell, and Maisy, a Whippet.

This list is only a recommendation and is meant to assist our guests in the selection of top-quality and productive fishing gear. Remember, most lures catch fisherman...not fish. One’s arsenal of high tech equipment is good to a point. However, where and how you use it is your key to success. (back to top)
Pre-Order Bait from Wildewood Store
Border restrictions limit the live bait you can carry across the border. Only worms in buss bedding, no dirt, is allowed. However, you have two other options for purchasing bait:
1. Purchase live bait before coming into camp from a licensed Canadian dealer, or
2. Place your bait order with us, in advance of your arrival, so we can have the bait you want to purchase on-hand at the resort. Bait is sold at current market value. Available bait includes sucker minnows, earth worms, leeches, and ciscos. Call or email your bait order one week prior to your arrival in camp. (back to top)
