Wildewood Newsletter

We would like to begin by thanking everyone that helped us make the 2008 season, our first year in this business, a most memorable and enjoyable experience. To all that were unable to join us this first year we look forward to meeting you and having you as a guest sometime soon.

For most of our fishing season the weather was great and there were many reports of wildlife encounters with bear, moose and caribou along with tales of extraordinary catches. Fishing on Lake Savant was spectacular with large numbers reported of all species and too many trophy stories to begin to mention. Many of our guests elected to release a high percentage of these trophies so future generations can enjoy the opportunity of that special moment of "catching the big one." Overall, our guests still enjoyed many evenings of fantastic fish fries and their limits to take home to family and friends.

We have had a very busy year and are proud of our accomplishments at the resort. Here are some of the major projects we have addressed. We have completed extensive construction work on the five mile trail link and it has greatly improved the travel time and comfort level in getting to the resort. We have purchased a new mode of transportation for travel to the resort which is a Hagglund BV-206. This amphibious Swedish built machine, which we have had customized, will transport upwards of seventeen guests and gear in an enclosed environment for their comfort and will provide a one-of-a-kind ride in the wilderness.

We have razed cabins I & 2 but they have been replaced by two beautiful structures that are furnished with the capabilities of housing four and eight guests. They have been outfitted with hot/cold running water and showers. The hosts have also built a cabin on the hill so they can spend more time at the resort to allow them to meet and assist you throughout the season.

This summer many of you have provided us with input on how else we can improve YOUR experience at Wildewood and we have already addressed one major issue by constructing a 40'x60' building that will house a workshop and the generators along with all our major machinery that assists us in maintaining the resort. This allowed us to organize the grounds and eliminate the generator noise so our guests can truly "listen to the wild."

We are very excited about going green as we have decided to implement solar power as the primary power source at Wildewood. We hope to have this completed by the start of the 2009 season. This project will greatly reduce our diesel fuel consumption for generators and allow us to spend more resources on improving other aspects of the resort for a more enjoyable vacation getaway.

If you have yet to experience fishing, sightseeing, hunting and relaxing with family and friends on Lake Savant you are missing out on what some have considered to be the experience of a lifetime. We at Wildewood feel this is why we are here to enjoy life at its best.

As you can see we have accomplished many goals and projects and with your help and input we will continue to improve our resort for your pleasurable outdoor vacation. We want to make WILDEWOOD a frontrunner for the fishing and hunting industry of Canada. Please join us in that venture.
